St
atic electricity can be created in all states of matter and is a common hazard at virtually every HAZMAT incident. While many responders are aware of the basic fundamentals of static electricity, few manage it with the level of priority it deserves. If correct countermeasures are not enacted, this hidden hazard can have potentially deadly consequences to workers and responders.
Signet North America’s popular, unique, interactive, and very hands-on ½-Day seminar can be applied to a diverse range of industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, and transportation, as well as traditional HAZMAT response and many others. It is based on the 2008 NFPA 472 Standard, including Chapter 12.4.1(9), Chapter 13.4.1(3), Chapter 14.4(3), Chapter 15.4(3), Annex A A.7.4.3(7), Annex A 8.12.4.1(9), Annex E E.4.3, and Annex F F.4.3. The goal of Signet North America's 4-Hour Static Electricity Safety and Awareness course is to provide a high-energy, interactive and informative education experience designed to take the attendee through a wide range of subject matter to include, but not be limited to:
- How static electricity is generated
- Ways to control static electricity hazards
- Overview and Live Demonstrations of static electricity behavior
- Ignition energies of products vs. static electrical energy (milijoules)
- Grounding & Bonding overview
- Traditional and innovative grounding and bonding techniques.
- Case Studies
